2013

“It’s over.  2013 is a memory.  A memory filled with ups and downs, joys and sorrows, laughter and tears.  Travel, adventure, from the U.S. to Brazil and from Florida to Alaska, family, friends, heartache, tears, struggles, it was all there.  And somehow, all these experiences have begun to imprint themselves onto this huge canvass we call life.  And I see a design.  A design created by a master artist to make my life beautiful and perfect in it’s imperfections.  This life is my story, my own personal story.  2013 is now forever closed; a new chapter begins.”

As I slowly closed the concept of 2013, I thought back over this past year and all the many adventures I was blessed with.  I began to browse through old picture and video folders, long buried in the influx of media which I am forever cursed with.  I started picking out favorite moments, fun memories with friends, pics that were too classic to trash.  I took notice of random videos I had never posted because they didn’t fit anywhere; they made no sense except in the portrayal of my life.  Before I knew it, a video began to form in my media editor, taking shape until it turned into what you are about to see.  This is it, my past year, wrapped up into 15 minutes.  Obviously I couldn’t capture everything, but I wasn’t trying to.  Some things, the digital world will never fully grasp.  The sleepless nights while stressing over college.  The sparkling and playful eyes of native children in Brazil.  The quiet meditations beside a still, upstate New York lake.  The wailing call of a loon while taking an early morning canoe trip.  The bond of friendship.  The camaraderie of nursing students facing tests that make or break their future career.  Those are just a few of the things I can only store in my memory.  Even so, I hope this video gives you a small taste of what my year was like.  It was a blessing to enjoy it with so many of you, and if you weren’t in this video, I hope we can spend more time together in 2014!
