Starting Over

Do you know what it feels like to have your house burn down? I hope not! But from talking with others, I've gathered that it's kind of a mixed feeling. While mourning over the loss of their valuables, they're also relieved to be separated from the bothersome burden of too much stuff. That's kind of how I'm feeling right now. A couple days ago my hard-drive crashed and I was unable to recover any of the data. Simply put, that means that all my animation work, all my video editing files, plus tons and TONS of other important stuff has all become a thing of the past. Even though it was quite the shocker, I've been secretly relieved to get my computer wiped clean and get a fresh start with my files…

It got me thinking about life. Sometimes we have a lot of "stuff" in our lives that we really don't like, but we can't seem to get the gumption to part with it. Even though they're things that are not as important as my computer files, we still cling as tenaciously to them. But yet we secretly don't like them. Every now and then I think we need Christ to come in and do a "hard-drive disconnection"; wipe our record clean and help us start all over. Even though we may feel scared to give our lives totally over to Him, worrying that He might take something that we want to hold on to, He will only get rid of those things that are ruining us. In the end it will be for our best good!!
