Coverin' things up

Just a quick thought since I'm really busy here at campmeeting.

The other evening I helped paint a backdrop for the meetings. The boards were painted last year, but over the course of time mold had started to grow and water spots lined the edges. After a thorough paint job had been completed, it really looked great!

But this morning we noticed some of the water spots showing through… It didn't look as good as it had last night. It reminded me of what we sometimes do with our sins. When we notice something in our characters that needs fixing, we try to cover it up ourselves. It never works. Even though it may look pretty good for awhile, our sins will always find us out. So next time the Lord shows you an area in your life that needs fixin' up, go to Him first. He doesn't promise to cover your sins, He promises to throw them into the depths of the sea!

  1. I really like this posting, Seth! That is a great lesson we can learn. It is so much better just to give whatever it is to Christ, then He can take it all away instead of us trying to cover it up. There are so many wonderful things to contemplate and learn from...thank you for sharing one of yours. :) Keep it up! Your friend, Heather B.

  2. Thank you Heather! I'm glad it was a blessing to you.
